Tottenham supporters will be concerned after what Ange Postecoglou has said about Cristian Romero.

Goals from Brennan Johnson, Dominic Solanke and James Maddison secured the points after Villa had taken the lead through Morgan Rogers thanks to yet another Guglielmo Vicario blunder.

However, despite moving up to seventh in the Premier League with the win, it wasn't an entirely perfect afternoon for Tottenham.

As well as yet another Richarlison injury concern emerging, Postecoglou will also be sweating over Romero after the World Cup winner was forced off in the second half.

And based on the Australian's update after full-time, it doesn't sound positive.

Postecoglou said (via Spurs' official website, 3 November), "Romero, yeah, it was in that challenge again.

"He felt his foot was sore. I don't have any sort of further information. obviously, he's a pretty tough cookie for him to come off, it must be sore. It's not ideal.”

Tottenham have Cristian Romero concern after victory v Aston Villa

Romero is one of the most important players in North London. Therefore, Spurs will be hoping his injury isn't too serious, especially with Micky van de Ven already sidelined.

However, Postecoglou didn't sound too optimistic about the issue, and the Spurs boss will be hopeful of having the Argentine back in time for the UEFA Europa League trip to RAMS Park to play Galatasaray on Thursday (7 November), or at least the Premier League clash with Ipswich Town at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (10 November).

Romero demonstrated against Villa how crucial he is. As per Sofascore, he made three interceptions and one tackle, while he also completed 95 per cent of his passes, with one of those key.

In addition, the 26-year-old played two accurate long balls forward while he won four of his seven ground duels and three of his six aerial duels.

It wasn't his finest performance, with the centre-back twice being dribbled past. However, he did also succeed with 100 per cent of his dribble attempts.

Therefore, Postecoglou will hope to have the defender back sooner rather than later.
