Brennan Johnson endures terrible first half as stats emerge from Tottenham v Manchester City FA Cup clash

Brennan Johnson has had a first half to forget as Tottenham have struggled to make a difference in the final third against Manchester City.

Ange Postecoglou’s side played host to the Citizens in the FA Cup on 26 January – holding superiority over the defending Premier League champions in recent games.

However, as many expected, Pep Guardiola’s side dominated proceedings in the first 45 minutes and Postecoglou may look to make changes at the break.

One substitution he’s got to make is getting off Johnson at half-time as he’s struggled to get into the game.

According to Sofascore, the Welshman has completed just six passes from ten attempts – amassing an accuracy of 60 per cent.

He’s struggled to make accurate crosses into the penalty area with a zero per cent success rate in that aspect.

The 22-year-old has not even attempted a single dribble and it’s been a relatively easy game for Josko Gvardiol, playing at left-back for the visitors.

Apart from that, the Wales international has lost possession on seven occasions too and has not looked to make any runs beyond the City defence to draw players out of position.

Off the ball too, he has relatively been anonymous in the game and lost both of his attempted duels.

Ange must bring on James Maddison, who was warming up in the first half in place of Johnson and move Dejan Kulusevski on the right wing.

Kulusevski has been playing centrally and will be much more effective out wide than the Welshman has been.

If Postecoglou is not proactive, there is no chance that the hosts pick up the win here as they are being dominated all ends up.
