Ange Postecoglou might regret James Maddison call in confirmed Tottenham lineup v Nottingham Forest
Ange Postecoglou could regret his decision to start James Maddison against Nottingham Forest after the midfielder’s lacklustre display against West Ham.
Spurs will be desperate to get back to winning ways after their 1-1 draw with the Hammers at the London Stadium on Tuesday (2 April).
Postecoglou’s side welcome an in-form Nottingham Forest to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (7 April).
Nuno Espirito Santo makes the trip to his former club with his current side unbeaten in three and coming off the back of an impressive 3-1 victory over Fulham at the City Ground on Tuesday (2 April).
A victory would see Spurs move into the top four of the Premier League above Aston Villa on goal difference after Unai Emery’s side surrendered a 2-0 lead against Brentford at Villa Park on Saturday (6 April) as they drew 3-3 with the Bees.
This has handed Spurs a big boost ahead of their clash with Forest which they will be confident of winning, although Postecoglou’s team selection, confirmed via the club’s official X account (7 April), could end up costing the North London side.
James Maddison must show much more for Tottenham against Nottingham Forest
Maddison has not been at his best in recent weeks, and that was the case once again against David Moyes’ side during the week.
As per Sofascore, of the 89 per cent of his passes which he completed, only one of those was key, while he also failed to provide a single accurate cross into the box from four attempts before being hooked off in the 70th minute.
While he did complete 100 per cent of his long balls forward and two of his three dribbles, he also only managed to win 50 per cent of his ground duels as he cut a tired figure in East London.
He was also dribbled past once, and after his ineffective display, Postecoglou might have been wise to give the England international a rest.

However, the Australian has opted to stick by the playmaker and he will hope that his decision pays off.
