Ange Postecoglou could regret Yves Bissouma decision in confirmed Tottenham lineup v Burnley

Ange Postecoglou could regret his decision to start Yves Bissouma as Tottenham face Burnley on Saturday (11 May).

Spurs come into the tie against the Clarets off the back of a disappointing 4-2 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday 5 May, where the midfielder had a particularly torrid time in the middle of the park.

Postecoglou will be hoping that his side can get back to winning ways following four consecutive losses to Newcastle United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Confirmed via the club’s official X account, the Australian has made two changes from the Liverpool defeat, seeing James Maddison replace Rodrigo Bentancur and Oliver Skipp take Emerson Royal’s spot at full-back.

However, it is the choice of starting Bissouma in the midfield which could be a decision that comes back to haunt Tottenham as they welcome Vincent Kompany’s Burnley to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou keeps faith in Yves Bissouma ahead of Tottenham v Burnley

Hopefully, the 27-year-old midfielder will see this match as an opportunity to rectify his previous performance at Anfield, struggling to deal with the likes of Wataru Endo and Alexis Mac Allister.

Playing all 90 minutes, Bissouma had a 0 per cent shot accuracy, firing far over the crossbar from outside the box, completed 0 per cent of his dribbles was also dispossessed once. [FotMob]

While he may have won 67 per cent of his tackles in midfield, he eventually picked up a yellow card, made four fouls and could only win 25 per cent of his ground duels, losing nine out of 12.

Fans would have more likely wanted to see Bentancur back in the team after a decent display against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Uruguayan completed 83 per cent of his passes, 100 per cent of his dribbles, 100 per cent of his long balls, as well as tackles won, and even 75 per cent of his ground duels. [FotMob]

He caused much more attacking danger than Bissouma but was replaced by Richarlison due to Spurs being 4-0 down and hoping to get back into the match.

A win against Burnley could be crucial for Spurs’ slim chances of breaking into the Champions League qualification spots in the Champions League, especially after Aston Villa’s 1-0 loss to Brighton.

In other Tottenham news, the club are set to enter transfer negotiations for an “exciting” West Ham United talent.
