Vilahamn ‘to recall Grant for Tottenham Women’ after international development
Charlotte Grant has demonstrated to Robert Vilahamn that she is ready to make an impact for Tottenham Women.
Vilahamn’s second season in charge of Spurs hasn’t gone how the Swede would have liked.
With four matches left to play, Tottenham are ninth in the Barclays Women’s Super League and without a win since January, losing six and drawing one of their seven matches in that time.
After some tough defeats against Manchester United Women, Arsenal Women and Manchester City Women, Vilahamn and his players would have been relishing the chance to play the teams around them and get back on track.
However, they were beaten 1-0 by Brighton Women at Brisbane Road on 16 March. This was followed by a 2-0 defeat to West Ham Women at the Chigwell Construction Stadium on 23 March to make it five consecutive losses in all competitions.
Spurs were able to end this run of straight defeats but still failed to claim victory as they drew 1-1 with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, 30 March.
Therefore, Vilahamn needs a boost, and it looks as though Grant is ready to provide one.

Grant impresses for Australia Women
Grant struggled in Spurs’ defeat to West Ham.
As a result, the defender was left on the bench against Leicester last time out. However, during her time with Australia Women, Grant has proven that she is ready to step up upon her return to North London.
The 23-year-old started in a 1-0 friendly win against South Korea Women at the Alianz Stadium on Friday (4 April), making five tackles, two interceptions and succeeding with 100 per cent of her attempted dribbles [Sofascore].
Grant once again started as Australia beat South Korea for a second time, this time 2-0 at the Newcastle International Sports Centre on Monday (7 April). On this occasion, the Spurs star made two clearances and two interceptions while playing one key pass as she helped her nation keep a second clean sheet in as many games.
Vilahamn must recall Grant at Tottenham
It hasn’t been a positive season in North London.
Barclays Women’s Super League | Position | Points |
Everton Women | 8th | 19 |
Tottenham Women | 9th | 18 |
Leicester City Women | 10th | 16 |
However, with four games to go, Grant and her teammates still have the chance to finish the season on a high and drag Spurs up the table.
Therefore, Vilahamn will be hoping that Grant is boosted by her recent displays for her country and returns to Hotspur Way full of confidence, and will likely be considering recalling the Australian.
