Eden Avital made her international debut for her home country Israel when she was just 17 years old and could now be set to swap life for France in England, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The report on 31 May claims that Tottenham Women are in talks with the midfielder and while a deal is yet to be reached, negotiations are progressing well with an agreement set to be agreed in due course.

Avital’s deal with her current side, French club Soyaux-Charente, expires this summer after the club was relegated from Women’s French Division One.

Avital is an attack-minded midfielder who is quick and can also feature on the wing. She only featured for 336 minutes during 12 league appearances last season. However, the season prior, was able to score three league goals in just four starts and 418 minutes of football played (FBREF).

Even though Avital didn’t feature frequently last season, her 0.15 expected goals per 90 demonstrate she is a player who likes to get forward and influence play further up the field.

Throughout her career, Avital has won domestic trophies in Israel as well as scoring twice in eight appearances for her national side during the most recent Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign, (Soccerway).

Tottenham Women endured a difficult season last year, finishing ninth in the Women’s Super League, their lowest finish in the competition to date.

It was especially disappointing coming off the back of the season before when they finished fifth, their highest finish in the WSL so far. Therefore, the squad is in clear need of some reinforcements to push Spurs back up the table, and Avital could be a smart signing.

She has experience playing top-flight women’s football in France and internationally and that experience could translate well if she was to make the move to English football.

At just 26 years of age, the Israeli midfielder still has plenty of time left in her career and could really flourish if offered first-team football in a new league.

The move should not be a difficult one to get across the line with the player out of contract, and if the club can get it done, it will be a positive sign of intent ahead of the new season.
