Tottenham Women midfielder Eveliina Summanen sends message to Martin Ho

Eveliina Summanen has sent a strong message to new Tottenham Women boss Martin Ho.

Ho has succeeded Robert Vilahamn after the Swede was sacked by Tottenham.

The Englishman made history when he guided SK Brann to become the first representative club from Norway to reach the group stage of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Tottenham will hope Ho writes a bigger and better story in North London, but not before dealing with his first task since becoming manager.

Summanen delivers an excellent performance against Norway

Defensively, she was solid. Summanen made three tackles, and two interceptions, and was not dribbled past once. Furthermore, she won three of her ground duels and one aerial duel, while making two clearances.

The 27-year-old also provided two accurate crosses and three accurate long balls while her only shot of the game hit the woodwork, with this performance a clear message to Ho that she will be crucial for Spurs next season.

Ho needs to be given a chance

Tottenham supporters would have no doubt been surprised to learn of Ho’s appointment.

Other than working as an assistant coach at Manchester United and stints with Liverpool’s and Everton’s youth teams, the 35-year-old has limited experience in England.

This could be a cause for concern among fans who will be desperate to see Tottenham improve.

However, it would be unwise to write Ho off before giving him a chance. There was scepticism around Ange Postecoglou when he arrived at Tottenham two years ago, and he ended a 17-year trophy drought.

Therefore, Ho will need to be given a grace period before his ability to lead this Spurs side is questioned.
