Tottenham Women: Jamaican stars get set for World Cup with successful camp

The Women’s World Cup is set to take place in New Zealand as well as Australia and will kick off on 20 July, with plenty of Tottenham players on show.

Multiple stars from the Spurs women’s team are set to represent their respective nations at the tournament.

Beth England recently spoke about her call-up for the Lionesses and now the club’s official Twitter page has updated fans (24 June) on Drew Spence and Rebecca Spencer’s progress for the Jamaican national team.

The players were both part of a successful Reggae Girls’ camp as preparations for the World Cup continue to get underway.

Both players featured frequently for the club last season as the women’s side narrowly avoided relegation. Midfielder Spence played 22 times in the WSL and scored on three occasions as well as providing two assists.

Meanwhile, Spencer made 11 appearances between the sticks for Spurs, however, was not able to keep a clean sheet in these outings as the side struggled on the pitch.

Jamicia get their tournament started with a match against France on 23 July before taking on Panama and Brazil who make up the rest of their group.

The Reggae Girls were the first ever Caribbean nation to qualify for a Women’s World Cup when they appeared at the tournament in 2019. This will be their second appearance at the tournament and they will hope to this time make a run out of the groups, which they failed to do last time out.

Spurs fans will be watching eagerly to see how Spence and Spencer perform as well as keeping a close eye on the other female stars representing Tottenham in New Zealand and Australia this summer.

In other Tottenham news, Bethany England has spoken about her national call-up ahead of the World Cup and pointed great credit in Tottenham’s direction.
