Martin Ho achieves insane Tottenham Women feat despite Manchester United comeback

Tottenham Women fans did not exactly have a Sunday to celebrate.

Spurs found themselves 3-0 up against Manchester United, in what would have been one of the shock results of the season.

However, the Red Devils staged a late comeback and would eventually level the scoreline in the 94th minute as the match ended 3-3.

It was no doubt a sour note for Martin Ho, whose reign at Tottenham has been fantastic so far.

Nevertheless, it was another point on the board, with Spurs remaining in touching distance of the Champions League places.

Tottenham Women match points total from last season

Life before Ho was bleak at Spurs.

Last season, Tottenham were dreadful, and lost seven of their final 10 matches, failing to win a single one.

As a result, the North London side finished 11th, one place above the drop zone.

Therefore, when Ho entered the club, he no doubt had his work cut out.

Yet, the turnaround has been remarkable, with Spurs easily being one of the best teams in the division.

Now, the size of the improvement he has overseen is clearer than ever, with the point at the Progress with Unity Stadium ensuring that Tottenham have now already matched their points total from last season.

This is despite Spurs only being halfway through the campaign, proving how insane this feat actually is.

Martin Ho gutted Tottenham Women could not hold on for win

While many Spurs fans would have taken a point before the game, considering the side were 3-0 up, it is no doubt two points dropped.

A victory would have seen Tottenham leapfrog Man United and go level on points with Arsenal in the Champions League places.

However, the collapse late in the second half prevented this as Ho missed out on a statement result.

Reflecting on the game afterwards, the manager was disappointed that they could not see the result over the line.

“I thought for 70 minutes, we were outstanding – our attacking play and how we defended,” Martin told Tottenham on 14 December.

“We just got to the back end of the game and they pushed it really well. The players have given me everything and I couldn’t have asked any more. They’ve battled through the whole of that game, and they’ve given me everything in this first part of the season. I’m just absolutely gutted for them.

“You never want to concede three goals – the players don’t and I don’t either, but when you’re playing against the top teams, they push you right to the end. We’ve had injuries, but that’s not an excuse. We have a good enough squad and the players have given me everything. I’m gutted we couldn’t get it over the line.

“We can take a lot of pride from this and we’ve taken big steps. We’ve grown as a team and come here to push Manchester United on their own patch, especially after going 3–0 up.”
