‘Levy in hot water with campaigners’ as Tottenham development approved

Daniel Levy is once again in the spotlight at Tottenham as he continues to make wholesale changes.

Levy has completely revamped Spurs this summer with sweeping changes from top to bottom, especially regarding staff.

There has been a high turnover among members of the boardroom, the medical department, coaches, and players as the Spurs chairman seeks to ensure Tottenham’s long-term future.

Levy has potentially secured extra investment for Spurs, prompting him to be more ambitious this summer, though his latest plans have not gone down well with everyone.

City Hall approve Tottenham Women’s new training ground

Despite winning the UEFA Europa League last season, Levy’s crowning jewel of his 24-year reign remains the construction of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The state-of-the-art venue is the envy of rival Premier League clubs, both for its outstanding facilities as a football stadium and the added financial gains of attracting big stars like Stray Kids to perform.

The newly built training facilities are equally impressive, and as reported by BBC News (16 July), City Hall have granted Tottenham Women permission to build their new training ground in Whitewebbs Park in Enfield.

The Lilywhites plan to fence off a section of North London park to build a new women’s academy with 11 pitches and a clubhouse.

The move has landed Levy in hot water with campaigners, who were protesting against the development, especially given that the land is part of London’s green belt.

However, Spurs successfully argued that the public benefits, ranging from more female engagement in sport and improved transport links, outweighed the loss.

Nevertheless, those opposed to the plans are expected to continue fighting their cause.

Levy shows commitment to Tottenham Women

Unlike clubs like Aston Villa and Chelsea, which have agreed to sell their women’s teams for extra funding, Levy is demonstrating his commitment to growing all elements of the club.

Martin Ho was recently appointed as the new manager, while Spurs have secured long-term contracts for a handful of their emerging young players.

Levy is keen for the Lilywhites to massively improve on last season’s standing in the Women’s Super League, for which the latest ambitious development will go a long way.
