Jessica Naz delight as Tottenham Women star earns England call-up

Tottenham Women forward Jessica Naz has once again been called up to the England Women’s national team.

Robert Vilahamn’s side suffered a disappointing defeat last time out, losing 1-0 to Manchester United Women at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Despite bringing in Josefine Rybrink, who made her debut against the Red Devils, Spurs didn’t have enough to pick up what would have been a valuable three points in the WSL.

However, after back-to-back defeats, Vilahamn has finally received some positive news, with Naz earning yet another call-up to the England national team.

Tottenham Women star Jessica Naz selected for England

As confirmed via Spurs’ official website on Tuesday (11 February), Naz will be part of the England team set who begin their UEFA Women’s Nations League campaign with a trip to Portugal on Friday 21 February before welcoming Spain to Wembley Stadium on Wednesday 26 February.

Naz is a player full of potential who will be looking to earn her sixth cap for the national team this month.

However, if she is going to make an impact for the Lionesses, the 24-year-old will need to demonstrate a lot more than she has shown for Spurs in recent weeks.

Jessica Naz struggles for Tottenham Women

Naz, who extended her stay with Tottenham at the end of last season, has only scored once in 13 WSL appearances this term.

In addition, she has struggled as of late, succeeding with just two of her seven dribble attempts and winning just three of her 17 ground duels against United last time out [Sofascore].

While she did complete 77 per cent of her passes, with one of those key, against the Red Devils, she also gave possession away on 13 occasions and was dribbled past three times in a performance which would have no doubt disappointed Vilahamn.

Robert Vilahamn enjoyed a positive first season in charge of Tottenham Women.

Therefore, if she is going to make an impact for England in the UEFA Nations League and continue to be selected, Naz will need to increase her performance levels over the coming weeks both for club and country.
