Amanda Nildén shines for Tottenham Women in win v Leicester City Women
Tottenham Women made the perfect start to 2025 with victory in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Sunday.
Robert Vilahamn’s side made it five unbeaten with a 1-0 victory over Leicester City Women at Brisbane Road on 19 January, although there was no space in the starting lineup for in-form goalkeeper Eleanor Heeps.
Spurs’ most recent arrival Lize Kop started between the sticks instead, keeping a clean sheet on her debut for the North London club.
However, it was Amanda Nildén who was the real star of the show for Vilahamn’s side on Sunday.

Nildén started at left-back against the Foxes and was crucial in helping her side keep a clean sheet after Janina Leitzig’s own goal had given Spurs the lead.
As per Sofascore, Nildén made five clearances and five tackles, as well as four interceptions, while she also blocked one shot. In addition, she won eight of her 11 ground duels and one aerial duel.
However, it wasn’t just defensively where Nildén made an impact.
The 26-year-old also completed 81 per cent of her passes, while three of her four long balls were accurate and two of her three dribble attempts were successful.
As a result, Vilahamn would have no doubt been delighted with his defender’s performance.

And the Spurs boss will hope to see more of the same from Nildén, starting in the FA Women’s League Cup quarter-final against West Ham Women at Brisbane Road on Wednesday (22 January).
In other Tottenham news, the club are expected “to move quick” after an Ange Postecoglou sack update.
