Why Harry Kane took so long to respond to Son’s Tottenham exit
Son Heung-Min recently completed a move from Tottenham Hotspur to MLS outfit Los Angeles FC after a decade in North London.
The South Korean forward established himself as one of the finest players in the entire Premier League throughout his time in England and would go on to become a legend at Spurs.
Son, 33, made his final appearance in a Spurs shirt against Newcastle (3 August) in their pre-season fixture in Seoul before making the move to America.
454 appearances, 173 goals and most importantly, one UEFA Europa League title later, ensures Son will forever be remembered fondly by the Spurs faithful.

Harry Kane sends an emotional message to Son
One of those players who had a hand in a fair few of Son‘s goals was Kane.
During their time together in North London, the pair established themselves as the most prolific partnership in the history of the Premier League.
Combined, the dynamic duo combined for a whopping 47 goals as the combination struck fear into defences across the country.
- The next closest duo behind Son and Kane is Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba for Chelsea, combining for a total of 36 goals.
Unsurprisingly, the former Spurs striker has put out a message on X (August 8) paying tribute to his former teammate.
Kane said: “Sonny Sonny Sonny. What can I say? We shared so many magical moments together on and off the pitch over the years. As a person and a player, you deserve all the success you’ve enjoyed. One of the very best people in the game.
“It gave me such joy to see you lift a trophy last season, and no doubt you’ll be a success with your next steps. See you soon.”
Why did Kane take so long to share Son statement?
Given that Son’s announcement regarding his departure was made last Saturday (2 August), there has been speculation as to why it took so long for Kane to post this message to his former teammate.
Perhaps the England captain wanted to wait until he had finished facing his former club in pre-season, as Bayern Munich thrashed Spurs 4-0 at the Allianz Arena on Thursday (7 August), with Kane scoring against Tottenham, an unfamiliar sight for those in attendance.
Alternatively, he might have just needed the time to find the right words to say. With plenty of fans speculating that his lack of comment meant he didn’t care, the truth might have been the complete opposite.
Son may be remembered more fondly by Spurs than Kane
Both players have been defining characters for the Lilywhites in recent years, but it may be Son who is regarded as the bigger Spurs legend as opposed to Kane.
Kane, attempting to join Manchester City on numerous occasions before eventually leaving to join Bayern Munich, understandably left a sour taste in some supporters’ mouths.
Son, on the other hand, remained loyal and was rewarded with that unforgettable night in Bilbao as Spurs lifted European silverware by defeating Manchester United.
Kane was objectively the better player for Spurs out of the two, but it is the Korean international who has immortalised himself in N17 by winning a trophy.
