What Eberechi Eze has done behind the scenes should be hailed despite Tottenham rejection

Tottenham now look set to miss out on Eberechi Eze despite weeks of tracking the Crystal Palace star.

After James Maddison’s ACL injury at Spurs, a new attacking midfielder is vital before the transfer window closes.

As a result, Tottenham looked set to sign Eze, who they had been tracking throughout the window.

However, this now appears to be in vain, with Arsenal swooping in for Eze and now the England international looks set to sign for the North London club.

Eberechi Eze ‘model professional’ in transfer saga

Throughout the transfer saga, Eze has done little to upset the Crystal Palace hierarchy.

According to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas via X on 21 August, the attacking midfielder has been a “model professional” throughout the process.

In fact, despite the impending sale, Eze is set to be in the squad on Thursday for Palace’s Europa Conference League match against Fredrikstad FK.

This is in stark contrast to Alexander Isak, who has been on strike at Newcastle United as he looks to force a move away from the Magpies.

Therefore, while Spurs will be gutted to miss out on Eze, the England international should be hailed for his attitude throughout the summer.

If Daniel Levy can find other targets with similar personalities, Tottenham would do well to bring them in.

In a world where modern footballers do plenty wrong, Eze has shown that some stars can still maintain their decency.

Has time run out for Daniel Levy at Tottenham?

As it stands, there are only 12 days left of the transfer window. Yet, Levy has not brought in substantial reinforcements.

Many of Spurs’ targets have either chosen to stay at their clubs or move on elsewhere, with Bryan Mbeumo’s move to Manchester United being another example.

Now, time may have run out for Levy to bring in quality players, with clubs unlikely to be willing to part with their stars so late in the window.

Going into the new campaign, this could now affect Spurs’ final position and potentially cost them European football, and Levy will have no one to blame but himself.
