Tottenham to ‘cut losses’ on Alejo Veliz after early summer transfer news
Alejo Veliz does not have a future at Tottenham after failing to impress on loan at Espanyol.
Tottenham forked out £13million to sign Veliz from Rosario Central in 2023 with the hope that the strike would develop into a player capable of leading the line for them.
However, the Argentina Under-20s international has not progressed like Spurs wanted, with both his loan stints in Spain leaving much to be desired.
The 21-year-old played just six games for Sevilla after joining them for the second half of the 2023-24 season and only has one goal to show for his 21 La Liga appearances for Espanyol this season.

Veliz exit on cards at Tottenham
Therefore, Veliz is set to return to Tottenham when his loan deal with Espanyol expires at the end of the season, according to Uriel Iugt.
The South American journalist reported via his X handle on Monday (24 March) that the striker will have to return to England in the summer as Espanyol have no plans to make an attempt to make his move permanent.
Competition | Matches | Minutes | Goals | Assists |
La Liga | 21 | 944′ | 1 | 0 |
Copa del Rey | 2 | 180′ | 3 | 0 |
That means Spurs have a decision to make regarding Veliz for next season, with permanent departure a realistic possibility.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are not spoilt for choice in the centre-forward department, with Richarlison heavily linked with an exit and Mathys Tel’s loan deal expiring in the summer.
However, that is not enough for Veliz to guarantee a place in the North London giants’ plans for the future.

Spurs to sell Veliz
All signs thus point towards Tottenham selling Veliz ahead of the 2025-26 season as he certainly does not have a future there.
While £13m is not a hefty amount by today’s standards, Spurs are better off cutting their losses on the former Rosaria frontman.
A permanent exit is also perhaps best suited for the youngster as an uncertain future at the Premier League club is not going to help him going forward.
Therefore, Daniel Levy will already be trying to find a new club for Veliz, so that Tottenham can ship him off early in the summer.
