Tottenham three new signings – Euro goal machine and Yves Bissouma replacement

Tottenham could play Champions League football next season if they defeat Manchester United in the Europa League final.

Ange Postecoglou has faced serious concerns over his future after a disappointing Premier League campaign this season.

However, a victory against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-finals has inched Tottenham closer to their first European trophy in 17 years.

Now with European football a reality next season, Spurs will need to invest big this summer to win big.

Johnny Cardoso

This season in the Premier League, Postecoglou’s side have been all high risk and now reward, conceding 57 goals.

According to FotMob, Real Betis midfielder Cardoso has made 125 recoveries and 46 interceptions this season, the 99th percentile amongst holding midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues.

He could challenge Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma, who has had a difficult season.

He is in the 91st percentile for tackles won in the midfield and 74th for aerial duels won per 90 minutes.

Bissouma outperforms him in tackles in the midfield by 0.02 per game, but is in the 81st percentile for interceptions and 15th for aerial duels won.

The absence of a reliable defensive midfielder who can half opposition attacks and shield the backline has harmed Spurs this season, and Cardoso could be the answer.

Rayan Cherki

After news of Maddison’s injury and subsequent unavailability for several months, has there ever been more of a need to bring in Lyon star Cherki?

The 21-year-old can play several positions, providing width on the right wing or playing behind a striker in the midfield.

Furthermore, he sees the game like no other, able to evade pressure and pick out the perfect pass for a teammate in advantageous positions.

His unpredictability, passing range, and technical ability position him as the perfect addition to Postecoglou’s side, who often go months at a time without their midfield maestro.

Hugo Ekitike

If the Frenchman’s performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when Spurs hosted Frankfurt in the Europa League quarter-final was not convincing, then his season stats should do the rest.

The 22-year-old has been Frankfurt’s stand-out player, scoring 22 goals and claiming 11 assists in 46 games.

The technically gifted striker is known for his pace, quick feet and sharp finishing.

Additionally, his strong dribbling not only helps him to create for his teammates, but will come in handy for a Spurs side looking to retain possession.

Frankfurt’s gem will not come at an easy price, but Daniel Levy should think twice before denying Postecoglou a player who will fit him like a glove.

In a Tottenham side that is already brimming with youth, these new additions would set Spurs up for years to come.
