Tottenham takeover: ENIC ‘on the way out’ as Qatar explore deal
Tottenham could potentially be set for a change in owners as ENIC may finally sell their shares to Qatar Sports Investments.
The British investment group bought a controlling stake at the Lilywhites in 2001, with Daniel Levy appointed the chairman.
Over the years, fans have turned against the current ownership in N17, with many calling for Levy’s departure from Spurs.
The North London outfit have endured a 17-year trophy drought, with supporters lamenting the lack of investment in the squad, but that may change soon.

Levy and ENIC have been reluctant to spend at Tottenham
Spurs last won silverware in 2008 when they beat Chelsea in the League Cup final, but they haven’t done anything since then.
While there have been encouraging moments over the years, with Mauricio Pochettino taking the Lilywhites to the Champions League final, it’s been downhill since the Argentine coach’s departure.
Clubs | Net transfer spend (2015-2025) |
1. Manchester United | £1.05bn |
2. Chelsea | £889m |
3. Manchester City | £860m |
4. Arsenal | £741m |
5. Tottenham | £588m |
One example of Spurs’ failures has been the inability to replace Harry Kane, with Richarlison and Dominic Solanke failing to live up to expectations.
Another significant moment that Levy and the hierarchy mismanaged was wasting the money they got from Gareth Bale’s transfer to Real Madrid.

Spurs will hope for takeover as Qatar Sports Investments explore deals
Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) will arguably have the means to take over Spurs as Levy values the North London outfit at £3.75billion.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi has shown at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) that he isn’t afraid to spend money to achieve success.
While QSI’s management in recent years was questionable with decisions regarding Kylian Mbappe, they’ve now built an impressive squad that beat Liverpool in the Champions League last-16.
Tottenham’s deal with Qatar seems to be the most realistic at this stage, considering the valuation of the North London outfit, and a takeover may soon be on the cards.
Speaking to The Athletic (26 March), a spokesperson from the Qatari organisation said: “QSI is exploring a range of investment opportunities across Europe and America currently.”
ENIC seemingly have the perfect opportunity to sell their stake at the North London outfit finally, and it would make sense for them to negotiate with the PSG owners.
Supporters have grown frustrated with the current ownership at Spurs, and rightfully so.
The Lilywhites are currently 14th in the Premier League, highlighting the scope of the crisis, with Ange Postecoglou’s future also in the spotlight.
What the future holds for the North Londoners remains to be seen.
