Tottenham player ratings v Liverpool: 3/10 dud ‘to get Postecoglou sacked’
Ange Postecoglou’s side suffered their 19th Premier League defeat of the season at Anfield on Sunday.
Liverpool clinched the Premier League title by beating Tottenham 5-1 on 27 April.
Supporters were left shocked by an Archie Gray development ahead of kick-off, with the 19-year-old hooked at the break after an action-packed first-half which saw the Reds take a 3-1 lead into half-time.
Postecoglou made the perhaps surprising decision to drop Richarlison. However, Dominic Solanke justified his manager’s choice by giving the visitors a surprise lead after 12 minutes.
Tottenham wouldn’t hold this lead for long, however, as they were quickly pegged back by a goal through Luiz Diaz, with the Premier League releasing a statement after VAR overturned the initial decision to rule the strike out for offside.
Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo put Liverpool out of sight by half-time, before Mohamed Salah got in on the act in the second half, and a Destiny Udogie own goal summed up a humiliating defeat.
For Tottenham now, all focus must be on putting this embarrassing loss behind them ahead of the first leg of the Lilywhites’ UEFA Europa League semi-final against Bodø/Glimt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (1 May).
However, if the Lilywhites are to have any chance of reaching the final, they will need to put in a much-improved display in North London.

Even if Spurs win the Europa League, Postecoglou is expected to leave Tottenham.

However, should the North London side fail to reach the final, the Australian could be sacked before the season ends, and if Vicario plays like he did against Liverpool, things might pan out that way.
The Italian conceded five times against the Reds, and while none of the goals were necessarily his fault, Vicario put his defence under constant pressure with his poor distribution and questionable passes.
As a result, he will need to show much more confidence on Thursday.
