Tottenham ‘must sack Postecoglou now’ after new Carlo Ancelotti development

Tottenham faces a crucial decision on the future of Ange Postecoglou in the next few weeks.

Spurs have one foot in the Europa League semi-finals after the 3-1 win over Bodo/Glimt (1 May) at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, the Lilywhites should be challenging for the highest honours like the Premier League and Champions League, not second-rate competitions.

Daniel Levy‘s decision may have been made easier after the latest update on Carlo Ancelotti’s future.

Levy must sack Postecoglou after Ancelotti becomes available

Ancelotti was widely expected to become the new Brazil manager once he leaves Real Madrid but that situation has become a bit more complex.

A report from Sky Sports (2 May) claims that discussions between the parties have stalled with talks at an impasse due to the timing of his departure from Los Blancos.

It states that the Brazilian FA want their new manager in place before the World Cup qualifiers in June and have turned their attention to Jorge Jesus.

That may open the door for Spurs to swoop in and tempt Ancelotti back to English football.

Tottenham must go all out for Ancelotti

Standards have clearly slipped at Spurs this season, as they are 15th in the league, which is not acceptable for their stature.

Postecoglou is hanging on by a thread and if Ancelotti is available, the Lilywhites must do everything in their power to try and appoint him as their next boss.

He would bring a winning mentality that the N17 outfit have sorely lacked since reaching the Champions League final under Mauricio Pochettino in 2019, where they ultimately lost to Liverpool.

The 65-year-old is a proven contender at the top level of the game and would be a much better option than the likes of Thomas Frank, Andoni Iraola or Marco Silva, who have all been linked with the role.

He would bring a bigger pull in the transfer market and already has Premier League experience, having managed Chelsea and Everton, winning the title with the former in the 2009-10 season.

If the Italian is available, then Levy must sack the current manager and hire one of the game’s best before it is too late.
