Tottenham move makes perfect sense for Palhinha as transfer stance emerges

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich star Joao Palhinha this summer.

Thomas Frank is crying out for top-quality players in the engine room, with the likes of Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur not impressing last season.

A lack of depth hurt Spurs last season, with Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall forced to play an increased role despite their inexperience at the top level.

Daniel Levy must ensure that his new manager has the right squad depth, so an injury crisis cannot hamper his plans this season.

Palhinha transfer stance shared amid Tottenham interest

Palhinha previously starred in the Premier League for Fulham, before earning his move to Bayern Munich, and he could be set to return to England.

His time in Germany has not gone to plan, with just 25 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga champions last season.

As a result, he could seek an exit and a report from Bild, relayed by MiaSanMia on X (31 July) claims that Tottenham have held talks over a move.

It states that the German side want a fee of £26million, but Spurs would rather loan the 30-year-old, who is willing to return to English football.

It is understood that the Lilywhites’ position in the Champions League, he would want to move back to London.

Tottenham move would be perfect for Palhinha

The move makes perfect sense for all parties, as Tottenham are desperately needing a defensive midfielder, and he has not had the required impact in the Bundesliga.

Palhinha was a top holding player in his stint with Marco Silva’s side, and if he could replicate that, it would be a brilliant move for Levy and Co if they could secure his services, either permanently or on loan.

He would not need to adapt to the top-flight in England as he already has significant experience of the game in this country, so it could really pay off for Spurs and the player if they can reach an agreement.

Given that he would be willing to come to North London, due to their qualification for Europe’s premier competition, it is a no-brainer.
