Tottenham may have perfect bargaining chip in bid to sign Pascal Struijk

Tottenham are said to have previously expressed an interest in signing Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk and with the Whites reportedly chasing Ben Davies, a deal could be agreed.

With a defensive injury crisis occurring at Tottenham this season, Spurs may look to add defensive cover in the transfer window and they were previously linked to Leeds’ Struijk [TBR] in a deal that could come to fruition after the latest update.

As per Ben Jacobs speaking on the Last Word on Spurs podcast [7 January], Leeds are keen on a deal to sign Davies in a bid to strengthen their promotion hopes.

Given Davies’ lack of involvement when players are fit, Tottenham may look to offer him as part of a deal to sign Struijk which would seemingly suit both parties.

Tottenham to reignite Pascal Struijk interest?

One thing that remains clear is the need for reinforcement this January if Spurs are to make anything out of the current season.

Ange Postecoglou has shown a worrying amount of stubbornness when setting his side up and if that is to remain, the addition of depth will be an absolute necessity, especially defensively.

Struijk would represent a good move for Tottenham given his impressive performances for the Whites this season, having played a crucial role in their race for promotion, of which they are currently top of the pile.

Whether Struijk remains a target or not is yet to be seen but if not, Tottenham need to find players capable of coming in to fight for a starting place.

An inability to achieve that will prove costly in their bid to revive the season which in turn could spell bad news for Postecoglou.

In other Tottenham news, one Spurs target has been told he is allowed to leave his current club.
