Tottenham have perfect Yves Bissouma opportunity amid January transfer development

Yves Bissouma’s future provided Tottenham with one of their biggest issues of the summer transfer window.

The Lilywhites spent large parts of the summer trying to offload the midfielder, who has struggled to find both form and consistency since his move from Brighton in 2022.

Bissouma came close to leaving Tottenham on several occasions, with the likes of Everton and West Ham lining up deals to try and keep him in the Premier League at one stage of the window.

However, the N17 outfit ultimately couldn’t find a suitor for the Mali international, much to the frustration of Thomas Frank, but they may now be about to get the perfect opportunity to move him on.

Tottenham have chance to sell Yves Bissouma to Fenerbahce

Bissouma almost left Spurs to join Galatasaray on deadline day, despite the fact that he had been heavily linked with a move to their bitter rivals Fenerbahce a matter of weeks before.

The 29-year-old ultimately remained part of Frank’s squad beyond the 1 September deadline, but it looks highly unlikely that he will see any football under the Dane.

He is yet to make a competitive appearance under the new boss, and was among the group of first-team players to be omitted from the squad for the league phase of the Champions League.

Bissouma’s contract expires at the end of the season, but it is clear from their efforts in the summer that the Lilywhites are desperate to try and offload him before then.

They may now be about to be presented with the perfect opportunity to get rid of him when the January transfer window comes around.

Fenerbahce president Ali Koc has made it clear that the Turkish giants will add a “number eight” to their ranks in January, according to journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu via X.

With one of the previous suitors for Bissouma now adamant that they will be adding in his position in the winter window, surely Tottenham have a no-brainer on their hands to try and strike a deal.

Spurs should let Yves Bissouma leave for free in January

Bissouma has slipped below Tottenham’s standards on several occasions now, with his lateness also causing an issue in the early stages of Frank’s reign.

The former Brentford chief appears to have essentially cut him out of his plans, and with his contract expiring next summer, it is in the club’s best interests to move him on as soon as possible.

With that in mind, it surely makes sense for the North Londoners to waive the idea of securing a transfer fee for him, and instead allow Bissouma to leave for free in January.

It is likely in the best interests of all parties to head in different directions, and making Bissouma available for free would surely increase the likelihood of an exit being agreed.
