Tottenham have perfect time to sack Thomas Frank with decision now final – This is why

Thomas Frank has surely used up his final life at Tottenham.

Walking to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday evening, fans didn’t expect any sort of success against a struggling Newcastle side.

That’s how it turned out, too, with Newcastle beating a lacklustre Spurs 2-1.

Malick Thiaw opened the scoring just before half-time, with Archie Gray equalising before Jacob Ramsey scored the winner, which saw Tottenham drop to 16th in the Premier League.

For Frank, it could be the final nail in the coffin.

Tottenham have perfect time to sack Thomas Frank

Joe Lewis and his family can’t be impressed with what they’re watching right now, and there comes a time when patience runs out.

Unsurprisingly, Tottenham are also out of the FA Cup after losing to Aston Villa in the third round.

That means that Spurs now have a free weekend and don’t play again until Arsenal come to town in the Premier League on 22 February.

With Arsenal next in a huge North London derby, followed by a trip to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham, two defeats would not be surprising at all.

Crystal Palace are rejuvinated, while Anfield has never been a happy hunting ground for Spurs.

There is a real possibility that at some time during this run, Tottenham find themselves in the relegation zone, with the gap now only five points to West Ham.

Why is it the perfect time to sack Thomas Frank?

With 11 days until the North London derby against Arsenal, Spurs have time to get Frank out of the door and replace him with their preferred manager.

Not only that, but they would likely have several training sessions before that showdown, rather than being forced into the deep end immediately.

There has been talk of appointing an interim until the end of the season before setting up a sensational return for Mauricio Pochettino, but the risk is too great for that now.

Other names, such as Roberto De Zerbi, are available now, so it would be interesting to see what road the Lewis family go down if Frank is finally sacked.

One thing is for sure, this is the perfect time for a change in the dugout, otherwise Spurs may need to wait until the March international break, where it may be too late.
