Tottenham have perfect chance to blow Brighton out of water to sign £45m wonderkid, late bid made

Tottenham had a very underwhelming winter transfer window but they will have an opportunity to reverse the damage in the summer.

Conor Gallagher came in from Atletico Madrid for a reported £34million, with Souza joining from Santos soon after, but those were the only two senior additions Spurs made before the deadline.

Tottenham did add a number of youth players to their ranks, most notably beating Arsenal to the signing of 18-year-old James Wilson from Hearts.

Wilson comes in on loan until the end of the season, with Thomas Frank’s side holding an option to make the move permanent in the summer.

Tottenham January done deals

Tottenham have golden opportunity to sign Said El Mala

Tottenham have been linked with FC Cologne star Said El Mala over the last few months, as Frank looks to add some flair to his attacking ranks.

Spurs were desperate to bring in a left winger during the winter window, but didn’t manage to get a deal over the line.

According to BILD, El Mala is now asking to leave Cologne in the summer, after they rejected a last-minute bid from Brighton before the deadline.

The Seagulls reportedly offered between £22m and £26m, but the German side turned down the approach.

Internally, Cologne value El Mala at around £45m, so Brighton will have to drastically increase their bid in the summer.

With the 19-year-old now unsettled though, it gives Tottenham the opportunity to convince him to make the move to North London.

Tottenham can’t miss out on Said El Mala

If Brighton are interested in a player, history tells us that they are normally pretty good, and El Mala is no exception.

The teenager has started just eight Bundesliga games this season, but he has already racked up seven goals and two assists.

Said El Mala stats

El Mala averages two shots and 0.5 key passes per game, and consistently gets himself in positions to score.

He is very clearly raw, having missed 10 big chances so far this term, but he will continue to develop in the coming months.

El Mala could come in as the left-wing option Tottenham are looking for this summer, so it is vital the North London outfit do everything they can to get the deal over the line.
