‘Tottenham find perfect Romero replacement’ with £35m deal now close

Tottenham could lose several high-profile players this summer as they prepare to fight on all fronts under Thomas Frank.

Son Heung-min has a year left on his Spurs deal and is reportedly a target for MLS outfit Los Angeles FC.

Elsewhere, Cristian Romero has been heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, and could move on during the current window.

If Romero does exit the North London club, then the Lilywhites have the perfect replacement with Champions League nous.

Inter Milan man a cheap replacement for Romero

Atletico have reportedly submitted a £60.2million bid for Romero, although almost £13million of that was made up of add-ons.

However, there have been further reports that Spurs are yet to receive a bid for the centre back at all.

Daniel Levy is believed to want more for the World Cup winner, but it remains to be seen whether the La Liga side will meet his demands.

There is concern that the 27-year-old wants to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after what unfolded with Ange Postecoglou.

While the Argentine remains a Spurs player for now, the Lilywhites would be sensible to line up a list of replacements.

One of those names should be Yann Bisseck, whom Tottenham gathered details on in the spring.

He has a release clause of as much as £100million, and Inter would not despair if a club were willing to pay it, according to Corriere dello Sport (9 July).

The Italian outlet states that Inter’s doors are open for the defender, and he is a player the Serie A side plans to sell to finance the rest of their market.

Indeed, the signing of centre back Giovanni Leoni would cost Inter up to £35million and would be enough to see Bisseck pack his bags.

They add that several Premier League clubs are interested in the German, with West Ham also linked with Bisseck.

Tottenham should negotiate Bisseck price

While it is highly unlikely that Spurs would meet Bisseck’s reported release clause, there is every reason they could negotiate a cheaper deal.

The 24-year-old has under 50 Serie A appearances to his name and has been capped once by Germany, meaning a price should be negotiable.

Last season, the centre back made 46 appearances in all competitions, with 13 of those coming in the Champions League.

On current evidence, he is primed for a big future and would be an appealing option for Frank at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

If Inter are willing to move him on, then the Lilywhites should test their resolve with an opening offer, leaving the door open for Romero to go his own way.
