Tottenham face another familiar problem after what Aberdeen have done with Alfie Dorrington
Tottenham may grow to regret their handling of Alfie Dorrington as the season progresses.
The Lilywhites conducted some excellent business over the summer. Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani joined Tottenham in the final days of the window.
Meanwhile, Spurs Academy product Mikey Moore joined Rangers on a season-long loan, with Luca Vuskovic being the latest Tottenham player to be loaned out.
But what on the surface seemed like a good deal for the North London club could come back to haunt them.

Alfie Dorrington omitted from Aberdeen’s UEFA Europa Conference League squad
Dorrington rejoined Aberdeen on loan from Tottenham in the summer and has gradually seen his gametime reduce.
- Dorrington played back-to-back full-90s for Aberdeen against Celtic and Greenock Morton in August
- The defender has played 61 minutes in three games since
The Tottenham loanee played in both UEFA Europa League play-offs against FSCB, which saw The Dons drop to the UEFA Europa Conference League after losing 3-0 in the second leg.
However, Dorrington has not been included in their league phase squad. This comes as a surprise after his stellar form for them last season.

Tottenham are facing another Dane Scarlett problem
Former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho once referred to Dane Scarlett as a “diamond”after he was tipped to become the next superstar in North London.
However, several loan spells later and the attacker has struggled to find consistent minutes with the first team.
His most recent loan during the 2024/25 season to Championship club Oxford United was a failure. In 20 league appearances, Scarlett played 788 minutes for The U’s before he was recalled by Spurs for the latter half of the season.
Upon his return, the centre-forward played 33 minutes in the Premier League and 25 in Europa. Other than that, he spent the majority of his time at Tottenham on the bench before Scarlett underwent groin surgery.
Dorrington could follow a similar trajectory if his sparse minutes continue. As such, Tottenham are stuck between a rock and a hard place.
It is unlikely that he will get the minutes he needs at Aberdeen, but Thomas Frank does not need another defender. Therefore, Spurs could see another youngster waste a season.
