Tottenham could have Udogie replacement lined up already as transfer talks held
Destiny Udogie could be set for an extended spell on the sidelines at Tottenham.
Ange Postecoglou’s long-term future in North London remains under threat after the 2-2 Premier League draw with Wolves at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (29 December), with Daniel Levy being urged to make a statement on the Australian.
Spurs have won just two of their previous 10 matches in all competitions. However, a big part of these struggles have been due to the amount of players the club currently have out injured, with Udogie the latest defender to suffer a setback.
The Italian was forced off with a hamstring injury in the draw with Wolves and faces up to six weeks on the sidelines as a result.
Therefore, Spurs might have no choice but to sign a new left-back in January, with Ben Davies having suffered a setback of his own as he looks to make a return from injury.
And it looks as though an opportunity might have already presented itself to Daniel Levy and the club.
Tottenham to sign Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell?
As reported by Sport (24 December), Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell is a target for both Tottenham and Barcelona.
However, it seems those aren’t the only two clubs in the mix, with Spurs’ North London rivals Arsenal also eyeing a move for the 25-year-old.
As reported by CaughtOffside (29 December), both Tottenham and Arsenal have held talks with Mitchell over a potential transfer, and after Udogie’s latest injury setback, Spurs might perhaps look to accelerate those talks and get something agreed in the early part of January.
Mitchell has started every single game for Crystal Palace in the Premier League this season, providing three assists. Therefore, due to his experience in England’s top flight, he could be the perfect player to cover for Udogie and provide some relief for Postecoglou.

However, Spurs could struggle to convince Palace to part ways with a key first-team player halfway through the season, and Levy might be formed to get the chequebook out.
In other Tottenham news, the club have been told to ban one player after an overnight social media post.
