Tottenham can seal ‘cut-price Romero replacement’ after new update from Italy
Cristian Romero looks set to leave Tottenham in the summer.
The Argentina international has spent the majority of the campaign on the sidelines as Ange Postecoglou‘s side have struggled.
He has been linked with an exit from North London with Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid showing interest in his services.
The prospect of Romero departing the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium may be a step closer after a new development from Italy.

Tottenham can secure bargain Fikayo Tomori deal
Tottenham can secure a cut-price Fikayo Tomori deal after the England ace was deemed surplus to requirements at AC Milan.
A report from TEAMtalk (8 March) claims that the Italian side have reduced their demands significantly for the 27-year-old ahead of a potential summer sale.
It states that the Serie A outfit will allow the defender to leave for a fee of £26million, a reduction from the £34m fee that they wanted in the winter transfer window.

Tomori would be a solid Romero replacement
The five-cap international would be a great addition for Spurs as he has largely shone in Italy since making the move from Chelsea, despite an inconsistent campaign this season.
Tomori was a key factor in Milan’s title-winning campaign in the 2021-22 campaign and continued that importance the next season in a title defence that ultimately fell short.
Stats | Tomori | Romero |
Matches | 15 | 16 |
Pass accuracy | 93% | 89.3% |
Ground duels won | 56 (61.5%) | 78 (60%) |
Aerial duels won | 24 (54.5%) | 35 (57.4%) |
He was a key member of the squad under Stefano Pioli last season until the Italian departed his role and his minutes have been reduced this season under both Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceicao.
However, Tomori remains a very capable player and may just need a change of scenery to find his top level of form again, that could come in North London, with a return to the home comforts and a better chance to make Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.
For the reported fee of under £30m, it is a no-brainer and Spurs may even be able to offset the outlay by selling Romero, with a limited difference on the pitch due to the Argentine’s constant injury woes, which would please the financially savvy Daniel Levy and allow the Lilywhites to invest in other areas of the squad.
