Thomas Frank thrown under the bus yet again as Tottenham close in on next signing
Thomas Frank is having an awful time at Tottenham, but he is not being helped by the recruitment team in North London.
Spurs have had a less than impressive winter transfer window so far, Conor Gallagher moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium from Atletico Madrid and Souza coming in from Santos.
The situation is not much better on the pitch, as Tottenham drew 2-2 with Burnley on Saturday at Turf Moor.
The Lilywhites are now just eight points clear of the Premier League relegation zone, and their new transfer target is unlikely to improve the mood.
Tottenham make shock move for Sam Johnstone
Antonin Kinsky could be set to leave Tottenham before the end of the window, with West Ham United making a move for the shot-stopper.
The North London outfit would have to find a replacement for Kinsky if he did depart, to provide backup to Guglielmo Vicario.
However, Tottenham are reportedly now tracking Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, in a surprising turn of events.
The 32-year-old was dropped by Rob Edwards back in December and has been forced to the bench in recent weeks, with Jose Sa preferred between the sticks.
Johnstone has made 12 Premier League appearances this season, but has yet to keep a clean sheet for Wolves, who sit bottom of the table.
Despite his poor displays this term, the Englishman is now being presented with the opportunity to join Spurs.
Thomas Frank will be fuming at Tottenham recruitment
Tottenham are crying out for reinforcements in multiple areas, and the goalkeeping department is probably the least of their concerns right now.
Swapping Kinsky for Johnstone does nothing to improve the squad and perhaps even makes it slightly weaker.
It is yet another example of Frank being let down by the Tottenham recruitment team, who have not provided the Dane with enough tools to turn the current situation around.
Despite their abysmal season so far, the Lilywhites are only nine points behind Chelsea, who sit fifth in the Premier League.
Frank is still in with a real chance of guiding his side to European football, but that won’t happen without some big additions within the next week.
