Thomas Frank surely done for at Tottenham after what was heard at Old Trafford

It was yet another highly disappointing afternoon for Tottenham on Saturday.

Tottenham were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, sinking Spurs and Thomas Frank into further trouble.

Any chance of Tottenham getting anything from the game was made almost impossible at the half hour mark, as Cristian Romero was shown a straight red card for his foul on Casemiro.

Bryan Mbuemo quickly ensured United took advantage of their numerical superiority when he opened the scoring on 38 minutes, before Bruno Fernandes sealed the deal with 10 minutes of the game to play.

Tottenham fans call for former boss to replace Thomas Frank

Frank came into the Man United game under major pressure, with his Tottenham side now winless from their last seven Premier League games.

However, the Spurs hierarchy have so far stuck by the former Brentford boss, despite not really being seen to be backing him in the winter transfer window.

Regardless, many Lilywhites supporters now feel as though Frank has run his race in N17, and a change in the dugout is largely being called for.

And, as captured in a video from the United game shared to X via the Spurs Army, Tottenham’s travelling fans could be heard chanting the name of former manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The 53-year-old left Spurs in November 2019 after spending over five years in charge, which included Tottenham’s memorable run to the Champions League final in the 2018-19 season.

Frank being under pressure is no secret, but now that fans are constantly chanting the name of the man who is favourite to replace him, that surely only spells bad news.

Pochettino surely won’t abandon USA right now

If Frank was to be sacked following the Man United loss, there would surely still be a high volume of interest in the job given the stature and size of the football club.

However, Pochettino, as well-liked and admired as he still is in N17, would surely not be a serious candidate for a return to the role.

The Argentine is just months away from leading his USA side into a home World Cup, and he has only been in that position since September 2024, culminating in 23 games in charge so far.

As such, despite the evident wishes of many Spurs supporters, a romantic return would likely not be on the cards until after the summer, potentially depending on how well the USA perform at the World Cup.
