‘Thomas Frank already set for Daniel Levy bust-up after Tottenham transfer news’

Daniel Levy is set to decide on Ange Postecoglou’s replacement in the coming days.

Levy has accelerated the process after coming under increasing pressure from the Lewis family to steer Tottenham in the right direction.

Spurs’ lowly 17th-place finish in the Premier League was the reason behind Postecoglou’s dismissal, as was made clear in Tottenham’s controversial statement that revealed the decision.

Levy is targeting managers with a proven track record in the Premier League, with Thomas Frank now the frontrunner for the role.

The Brentford manager ticks most boxes, but it looks as though he might already be on course for a bust-up with Levy before he has even signed a contract to take over at Tottenham.

Frank wants Tottenham to sign Bryan Mbeumo ahead of Man Utd

Tottenham have spent over £400million on players in the last two seasons and do not envision a huge outlay this summer, despite possibly being set to lose key players like Son Heung-Min.

Frank, like any potential incoming manager, would be expected to assess and work with the majority of the young squad that are already in North London.

Nevertheless, the Dane will look to bring in his own players, starting with Brentford’s star forward Bryan Mbuemo.

The Cameroon international is posting his best-ever goalscoring return this season, and has been central to Frank’s success since he arrived at the Gtech Community Stadium from Troyes in 2019.

Frank will hope he can convince the forward to follow him to Hotspur Way, and reportedly wants Tottenham to sanction a deal, but Mbeumo is keen on joining Manchester United.

As reported by the Daily Express (3 June), the Red Devils are willing to meet the Brentford forward’s £250,000-a-week wage demands.

Meanwhile, Levy, who has employed a very strict wage structure at Spurs, is extremely unlikely to sanction such a deal, which could instantly put him at odds with Frank.

Levy must back new manager

While there is merit in retaining a wage cap and being sensible in the transfer market, the Spurs fans will demand the backing of any manager who walks through the doors at Tottenham.

Spurs fans are already at odds with Levy, and will not take kindly to the chairman if he is hesitant to invest, especially given the extra funding afforded to Tottenham after they qualified for the UEFA Champions League.

Prospective managers could also veer away from the Spurs job if they are not sufficiently supported, leaving the chairman chasing his tail to make an appointment once again.
