This is when Thomas Frank could be sacked as make-or-break Tottenham spell awaits
Thomas Frank now has what should be a fruitful run of Tottenham fixtures in front of him.
Tottenham lost 2-1 to Liverpool last time out in the Premier League, but the blame cannot all be directed at the Dane for the defeat.
Xavi Simons’ reckless red card meant the Lilywhites had a mountain to climb against the defending league champions, and the less said about Cristian Romero, the better.
Frank has been under increasing pressure at Spurs, with results and performances both being highlighted as underwhelming so far during his reign.
A busy winter period now awaits Tottenham, in what could be a sink-or-swim moment for the Spurs boss.

Tottenham’s fixtures are golden until February
Before defeats to Nottingham Forest and Liverpool, Tottenham showed signs of improvement under Frank with back-to-back wins over Brentford and Slavia Prague.
Spurs’ home form has come under fire, but the wins sparked new belief back into the Lilywhites before another damaging loss to Liverpool on Saturday.
However, there will simply be nowhere to hide for Frank if Spurs don’t kick on now, because fixtures until February don’t come much better than this.
| Game | Competition | Date |
| Crystal Palace vs Tottenham | Premier League | 28 Dec |
| Brentford vs Tottenham | Premier League | 1 Jan |
| Tottenham vs Sunderland | Premier League | 4 Jan |
| Bournemouth vs Tottenham | Premier League | 7 Jan |
| Tottenham vs Aston Villa | FA Cup | 10 Jan |
| Tottenham vs West Ham | Premier League | 17 Jan |
| Tottenham vs Borussia Dortmund | Champions League | 20 Jan |
| Burnley vs Tottenham | Premier League | 24 Jan |
| Frankfurt vs Tottenham | Champions League | 28 Jan |
Spurs’ January fixtures include a run of three home games in a row, matches against teams who are tipped for Premier League relegation, and others who are suffering heavily from losing players to the African Cup of Nations.
Perhaps the most difficult fixture is Aston Villa at home, given their current winning streak of 10 in all competitions, but even then, Frank may have more players at his disposal from the transfer window to help.

It’s clear to see that Frank will be backed in the transfer window, but if he fails to deliver during a golden period of fixtures, then he will be gone come February.
Data suggests that things won’t improve under Thomas Frank
Tottenham’s lack of attacking threat has been criticised in particular this season, with many left unimpressed by Ange Postecoglou’s replacement.
Spurs have actually been overperforming in front of goal, something that Brentford did under Frank last season, but at a club like Tottenham, you simply cannot get away with it.
- Tottenham have scored a respectable eight goals in their last five games
- However, they have only accumulated an xG of 7.08 in this period
- Frank may be getting bailed out by moments of individual quality
If there were ever a time for Tottenham’s attack to click, it needs to be now for Frank, because the chances aren’t coming often enough.
But, in fairness, all it might take is that one extra addition to make everything gel, but time will tell for Frank’s fate.
