Steven Gerrard opens himself up to ridicule over Thomas Frank sack suggestion
Steven Gerrard is the latest pundit to question Thomas Frank’s future at Tottenham.
Tottenham beat Frankfurt 2-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday to secure their place in the top eight of the league phase.
However, Frank is under intense scrutiny at Spurs as his side sit 14th in the Premier League table after 23 matches.
They have excelled in Europe, but supporters are demanding that they quickly improve their domestic form if they want to have a chance of playing in the Champions League next season.
Frank has no excuses at Tottenham, and Gerrard isn’t sure that he has what it takes to last the whole season.

Thomas Frank could be sacked before seeing out the Champions League campaign
Spurs have an incredibly tough run of games on the horizon, with Man City and Arsenal to play at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the end of February.
Tottenham have won just two home games in the league all season, and the mood around N17 has become increasingly toxic during Frank’s reign.
If the Dane continues to come up short in the league, then questions will be asked over whether he deserves to see out the season, especially given the team’s form in the Champions League.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 29 January, Simon Jordan was left amused by what Gerrard claimed while working on the Spurs game for TNT Sports.
He said: “It was interesting to see Gerrard and Joe Cole talk last night about the challenges that Frank is facing.
“They were ruminating on whether Frank will be in charge of Tottenham to build on this Champions League success, given their next run of games.
“He could be on the back on a run three or four defeats, and before you know it, he gets sacked. I hope he’s not, I hope he’s given the opportunity to build his side.”
It obviously seems ridiculous that Frank could be sacked, given how much the board has backed him so far.
Not only has he led Tottenham to an impressive Champions League campaign, but he has also had a big say in the recruitment during the winter transfer window.

How can Frank translate Tottenham’s European form to the Premier League?
While Frank should be under more pressure, his dismissal simply doesn’t look like happening.
Earning 17 points from 24 available in the Champions League is no mean feat, and that will certainly prolong his stay at Spurs.
With such difficult fixtures to come, Spurs need to maintain the same level of composure in defence if they want to go on a winning run.
There have been no issues with keeping other teams at bay in the Champions League, and playing more defensively, but even faster on the counter-attack, could be a good strategy for Frank in the top flight.
No one can fault their exploits in Europe, but all it takes is another poor result in the league for Frank to feel the heat.
That’s why Sunday’s clash with Man City is his most important game in charge so far.
