Son’s top five Tottenham moments as forward set for final Spurs game v Newcastle
Son Heung-min has decided to leave Tottenham this summer in search of a new challenge.
Son was visibly emotional as he addressed the media in Seoul on Saturday (2 August).
The Spurs star spoke glowingly of his decade-long spell in North London and shared his admiration for the club and the fans ahead of his departure.
With Thomas Frank announcing that Son would lead the team out against Newcastle for what could be his final Spurs appearance on Sunday (3 August), Tottenham News lists the icon’s top five moments for the Lilywhites.

5 – Screamer against Arsenal (December 2020)
Son’s career at Spurs is littered with wonderful goals as he became one of the Premier League‘s most lethal finishers, regularly overperforming his xG.
He made a name for himself with whipped finishes off both feet, and none were more special than against bitter rivals Arsenal, when he scored the opener in a famous 2-0 victory.
Son collected a pass from his reliable strike partner Harry Kane, before driving forward and cutting onto his right foot to unleash an unstoppable shot into the top corner from distance.
4 – Solo goal against Chelsea (November 2018)
Son’s arsenal of brilliant finishes was not limited to just long-range efforts, but a wide variety of inventive goals, including mazy solo runs.
Against Chelsea, Son did just that, running onto the ball from within his half and driving forward at the Chelsea back line.
He breezed around Jorginho before skipping past a flailing challenge from David Luiz and slotting a neat finish into the bottom corner to put Spurs 3-0 up against the Blues at Wembley.
3 – Brace against Manchester City (April 2019)
No one will be more relieved to see the back of Son than Manchester City, who have been haunted by the South Korean since he arrived in the Premier League.
Son scored eight goals and registered five assists against the Cityzens. However, none were more significant than the two he scored in the UEFA Champions League quarter finals during the 2018/19 season, which set Spurs on their way to the semi-final, despite losing 4-3 on the night.
Son reacted quickly to a loose ball to fire a shot past Ederson before collecting a pass from Christian Eriksen and unleashing a trademark curling effort into the top corner within the space of three minutes.
2 – That goal against Burnley (December 2019)
Son’s numerous goalscoring achievements, including finishing as the Premier League Golden Boot winner in 2022, were often overshadowed by Kane, who took most of the plaudits for his incredible strike rate.
However, one accolade that the South Korea international can boast over his former teammate is the Puskas Award, which he was awarded for his spectacular solo goal against Burnley during the 2019/20 season.
Son picked the ball up on the edge of his own area, before scorching past virtually the entire team and slotting away a neat finish to score what will go down as one of the best goals in Premier League history.
1 – Europa League Final Glory (May 2025)
There was no greater reward to mark Son’s extraordinary career than to captain the side to a Europa League triumph, ending Tottenham’s 17-year wait for a major piece of silverware.
The skipper sank to the ground in floods of tears at full time after fulfilling his biggest dream with Tottenham, and spent the rest of the evening embracing everyone before stepping up to the podium to lift the elusive trophy.
The South Korean was a picture of pure emotion and relief at what he had achieved, eventually speaking to the media and admitting what everybody already knew to be true: “I am a legend of this club”.
