‘Son Heung-min exit nears’ as Daniel Levy Tottenham transfer talks confirmed

Son Heung-min has been a superb servant for Tottenham.

Many star names have come through the door down Hotspur Way in recent years, but none quite represent Spurs like the South Korea international.

Alongside Harry Kane, the winger formed an elite partnership in North London, but with the record scorer now gone, the 32-year-old could follow suit.

This comes as Daniel Levy looks set to kick off transfer talks ahead of the summer, which could spell the beginning of the end for Son.

Son to depart as Levy begins transfer talks at Tottenham

The Lilywhites skipper hasn’t quite been at his best for many months, but neither have many of his teammates, especially in a domestic setting.

This ultimately resulted in the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, with a number of the Australians’ players set to follow him out the exit door.

The winger could be one of those facing the exit door, especially with the upcoming transfer window looming.

An outbound edging closer to reaching a conclusion, with Saudi Arabia showing interest in Son already, as Levy eyes a move elsewhere.

This comes as German outlet Abendzeitung reported (13 June) that the chairman has kicked off talks at Bayern Munich over a deal for Mathys Tel.

The France under-21 international spent the second half of the campaign in N17 and, despite struggling at times, often took the South Korean’s role on the flank for Spurs.

With that being said, an exit for the Lilywhites’ captain could be nearing confirmation if a deal can be completed with the Bundesliga giants.

Tel to replace Son at Tottenham

It could appear to be a downgrade to move on Son and replace him with a loanee who netted just 3 goals for the North London club.

That may prove to be the case, but there is no doubt that the 20-year-old has potential which could be realised under the tutelage of Thomas Frank.

By comparison, the former Bayer Leverkusen man is heading towards the end of his career and is likely to face a further drop-off in quality as the new season goes on.

Although Levy will get plenty of stick for letting Son go, it could prove to be a wise move if Tel returns and hits the ground running in his first full season of English football.
