Solanke reacts as door opens for Tottenham transfer that makes perfect sense

Dominic Solanke struggled in his first season at Tottenham.

The England international arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with big expectations after he netted 21 goals at Bournemouth in the previous campaign.

However, injuries and a lack of consistent form led to him only scoring 16 goals for Spurs in the 2024/25 campaign, with just nine of these coming in the Premier League.

As a result, Thomas Frank is keen on a new attacker at Tottenham this summer to give the 27-year-old more competition.

Tottenham should consider move for Callum Wilson

One attacker Tottenham should consider signing this summer is Callum Wilson.

Newcastle have now announced that the 33-year-old will leave St. James’ Park this summer after five seasons at the Magpies.

As a result, Wilson posted an emotional farewell on Instagram (7 July), which saw Solanke react with a like.

However, there is no reason why Frank should not consider offering Wilson a pay-as-you-play contract this summer.

The striker has regularly netted double-figure goals in the English top-flight when he has been able to stay fit.

Therefore, as a backup, the deal would make perfect sense for all parties, as his experience could prove to be vital in what is bound to be a long season.

If injuries do recur for Wilson, he simply would not be paid if Spurs can negotiate a pay-as-you-play contract.

Daniel Levy should look to take advantage of the free agent market

Now that contracts have expired around Europe, there is no reason why Daniel Levy should not be looking at the free agent market this summer.

There are plenty of top-quality players who are currently out of contract that Tottenham should be looking to take a risk on.

Kyle Walker-Peters has already been linked back to Spurs after he was released from Southampton.

Similar deals to this could help strengthen the London club’s depth while also saving funds for future transfers.
