Simon Jordan made to look truly ridiculous as Tottenham swipe backfires
Tottenham have seen their lack of trophies come under the microscope in recent weeks.
The Lilywhites have gone without a major honour since 2008 when Juande Ramos guided his side to a League Cup win over Chelsea.
This has come under scrutiny after Spurs were knocked out of both domestic cups within the space of a week after defeats against Aston Villa and Liverpool.
As a result, it won’t come as a surprise to fans in North London that other supporters and pundits have taken a swipe at the N17 outfit, although one of those, Simon Jordan, has made himself look silly.
Simon Jordan gets it wrong with Tottenham swipe
The talkSPORT presenter has often sprung to the defence of Daniel Levy in recent weeks, going against the grain of general fan opinion.
Despite this, the former Crystal Palace owner has taken a bizarre swipe at the Lilywhites via X on 12 February.
The 57-year-old shared an image which said: “If Manchester City were to be stripped of their titles, Manchester United and Liverpool get three titles each. Stoke and Watford will be FA Cup winners.
“Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Sunderland and Liverpool are League Cup winners. But Spurs still don’t win a thing.”
Regardless of this not being particularly funny to anyone, it is also incorrect.
That is because Tottenham reached the 2020-21 EFL Cup final, where they suffered defeat to Manchester City.
Ryan Mason took charge as the Lilywhites turned up at Wembley but fell to defeat against Pep Guardiola thanks to a late Aymeric Laporte header.
Spurs fell to defeat but by the logic of Jordan, they would not have another League Cup triumph to their name in the case of the Citizens being “stripped of their titles”.
Tottenham trophy jokes continue to bore supporters
Spurs fans themselves will tell anyone how frustrating it is to have not won a trophy in 17 years despite being part of the Premier League “big six”.
This has been the case despite reaching a League Cup and Champions League final since the win at Wembley back in 2009.
With that being said, these sorts of jokes from Jordan don’t really get under the skin of supporters at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
That may be the case but supporters will take their opportunity to ridicule others, especially when their “jokes” are actually wrong.
Simple research or knowledge would have led the broadcaster to rethink the post but that wasn’t the case and instead, it backfired and just comes across as a boring attempt to get a rise out of Spurs supporters.
