Robinson and Spurs return – Three left-backs Tottenham could now sign
Thomas Frank is looking to add a left-back to his squad at Tottenham this summer.
Frank is still determined to strengthen key areas of the team at Tottenham despite being on the verge of signing Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich.
The Dane has now had four pre-season friendlies and over a month of training with the Spurs squad to make his assessments, and it has been widely reported that he has identified the need to sign a new left-back.
The injury to Destiny Udogie may accelerate Frank’s needs as Tottenham News identifies three left-backs that Spurs could bring to Hotspur Way this summer.

Antonee Robinson – Fulham
Tottenham have tracked Antonee Robinson for a long time as the Fulham captain has developed into one of the Premier League’s best left-backs.
The 27-year-old has always been an exceptional athlete who possesses remarkable pace and strength, but has gradually developed his attacking prowess.
Player | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Minutes Played |
Anthonee Robinson | 30 | 0 | 10 | 2,699′ |
Trent Alexander-Arnold | 33 | 3 | 7 | 2,377′ |
Pedro Porro | 27 | 2 | 6 | 2,393 |
The Everton academy graduate was on Liverpool’s shortlist this summer, but the Reds opted to sign Milos Kerkez instead.
As reported by The Guardian (1 August), Spurs remain linked with the United States international, but will know that a deal will be challenging to strike with Fulham as Robinson has three years left on his contract.
Dennis Cirkin – Sunderland
Spurs have looked at bringing Dennis Cirkin back to N17 this summer after the 23-year-old helped guide Sunderland to Premier League promotion last season.
The Tottenham academy graduate impressed down the left-hand side for the Black Cats last season with his dynamic runs and aggressive style of play, making 39 appearances in all competitions.
Cirkin would not only offer excellent cover but would also count as a homegrown player for the Lilywhites in the UEFA Champions League, allowing them to register an extra foreign player to compete in Europe.

Leif Davis – Ipswich Town
Leif Davis caught the eye with his performances with Ipswich Town, despite the Tractors ultimately being relegated from the Premier League.
Much like Udogie, the former Leeds United left-back is notable for his attacking contributions.
However, his skillset lies more with crosses and deliveries into the box, which would offer Frank a different profile to work with.
Spurs could capitalise on Ipswich falling back into the Championship to secure a favourable deal, and Davis would likely be the most willing to make the move to North London.
