Roberto De Zerbi surely ready to replace Thomas Frank at Tottenham as resignation handed in

Roberto De Zerbi may have edged even closer to becoming the new Tottenham manager.

Thomas Frank is under severe pressure at Spurs, as the Lilywhites currently sit 14th in the Premier League on 28 points.

The Dane may have bought himself some extra breathing space as Tottenham beat Frankfurt 2-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday, but one more poor result could spell the end for the head coach.

De Zerbi has been discussing his future with Marseille on Thursday, but the former Brighton boss may already have N17 on his mind.

Roberto De Zerbi hands in resignation from Marseille amid Spurs linls

De Zerbi has been tipped to replace Frank at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as Lewis and Co. could be on the verge of making a managerial change.

The Lilywhites have shown too many holes under Frank, and attacking issues in particular have been highlighted.

However, De Zerbi could soon be headed for North London to save Spurs from their woes following the latest update.

According to Get Football News France, following talks after Marseille’s 3-0 defeat to Club Brugge in the Champions League this week, De Zerbi has requested to be relieved of his duties as head coach.

The Italian has won 38 times in 66 games in charge of the French side, but the recent speculation around the Spurs job may have tempted him to return to the Premier League.

Tottenham have some extremely difficult fixtures coming up, and barring a miracle, Frank won’t be in charge of the Lilywhites much longer.

But Frank’s dismissal could be the best thing to happen to the Lilywhites this season.

How De Zerbi can transform Tottenham

De Zerbi hasn’t exactly failed at Marseille, as it seems like off-the-field issues are what’s causing tension at the French side.

The 46-year-old has already proven himself in England with Brighton, and his bullish playstyle could be reminiscent of Ange Postecoglou’s

De Zerbi’s preferred formations:

The Italian demands that his side presses high and focuses on recovering and short passing to build fast-paced attacks.

Though he has preferred formations, De Zerbi focuses more on player fluidity rather than set roles, which can suit several Tottenham players.

Frank has been rigid in his tactical approach for the Lilywhites, and De Zerbi would surely fancy his chances if he handed his CV in soon.
