Radu Dragusin ‘finished at Tottenham’ as Jarrad Branthwaite transfer update emerges

Tottenham look set to make a big-money signing after resolving the future of Ange Postecoglou recently.

Daniel Levy and Co. opted to dismiss the Australian boss, regardless of his Europa League triumph, with Brentford’s Thomas Frank in line to take the reins in N17.

The Spurs board will surely be desperate to supply the Dane with the resources he needs to turn their fortunes around, following a dismal domestic campaign this term.

That could also prompt plenty of exits in North London, as Tottenham look to balance out their transfer expenses.

Radu Dragusin ‘has no future’ if Spurs sign Jarrad Branthwaite

Tottenham have already been linked with several big names this summer. The likes of Jack Grealish, Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo have all been hotly tipped for a move to North London.

Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite is the latest to be targeted by Spurs, who are expected to solidify their interest in the English centre back imminently, according to the Daily Mail (9 June).

The 22-year-old is widely regarded as one of England’s brightest defensive prospects, and has developed into a key player for the Toffees in the last few seasons.

Branthwaite would represent a major coup for Tottenham if they could convince him to join, however his arrival would undoubtedly have major implications for the defensive options who are currently under contract at the club.

Radu Dragusin is one of those who would surely be under threat if Branthwaite became a Spurs player. The Romanian centre half is currently sidelined with a long-term injury, but there will surely be no future for him at the club if the deal to sign Branthwaite does go through.

Dragusin is a likely casualty at Tottenham

There is no doubt that Dragusin has faced several challenges over the course of this campaign. The 23-year-old was called upon to partner Archie Gray in a makeshift backline in the early part of the season, as injuries tore through Spurs’ defensive ranks.

Then, in the second half of the season, he had his year ended with a knee injury that ultimately required surgery.

The Romanian international received criticism at times for his role in what was a woeful defensive effort from Spurs, particularly in the season’s early stages, and any move for Branthwaite would surely signal the end of his time with the Lilywhites.

Dragusin will face the difficulty of battling his way back from a serious injury, and may not be the same player he was before, whilst also facing the possibility of having to overcome three top centre halves in Branthwaite, Micky van de Ven and Kevin Danso in order to get in the side.

Frank will surely be keen to get a look at every player at his disposal, but it would be a huge surprise if Dragusin is kept around.
