Postecoglou’s favourite player has just left Tottenham – what is Thomas Frank doing?
Thomas Frank has been keen to avoid making wholesale changes at Tottenham despite their poor 2024/25 campaign.
Ange Postecoglou‘s side struggled massively last season, with injuries costing his side most notably in defence.
Spurs conceded 65 goals last season as they finished just above the relegation zone, though it has been the attack that Frank has strengthened so far this summer.
Following the arrival of Mohammed Kudus, the Lilywhites have now let go of one of Postecoglou’s favourites.

Tottenham star Mikey Moore heads to Rangers on loan
Tottenham have let Mikey Moore head to Rangers on loan, despite the 17-year-old being part of the first team set-up last season.
The young winger was one of the few positives to come from Spurs’ injury crisis last season as he showed great maturity to cover for the Lilywhites across all four competitions.

- Moore made his Premier League debut on 14 May 2024 in a 2-0 loss to Manchester City, becoming the youngest Tottenham player to play in the Premier League at the age of 16 years and 277 days
- He signed a three-year contract with the Lilywhites on 12 August 2024
Moore was a key part of last year’s preseason in Japan and earned plenty of praise from Postecoglou after scoring the winner in a friendly with Vissel Kobe in 2024, which ended 3-2.
“I think the future with a lot of our young guys looks pretty promising, but it’s our responsibility to make sure they realise their potential and continue to work hard at their game,” Postecoglou told reporters following the win.
Following Tottenham’s important 2-1 win against Ferencvaros in the European Conference League last season, Postecoglou even compared Moore to Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.
“How many 17-year-olds are playing in the Premier League? Yeah, Yamal is brilliant, but it’s not a common thing,” the ex-Spurs head coach said.
Moore made 12 league appearances under the Australian last season, starting seven, and showed promise despite only helping himself to one assist.
In January, he became England’s youngest scorer in a European competition since Jimmy Greaves in 1957, when he helped round of a 3-0 win against Elfsborg.
The high praise that Moore has attracted in recent months will no doubt make Spurs fans question why Frank is letting the youngster leave.

Moore’s loan move could backfire on Frank
Moore’s move to Rangers seems to make little sense.
Tottenham still have a depleted squad, so it would’ve been worth keeping the youngster until later in the transfer window when most of Spurs’ business had been concluded.
The left-winger is likely to find gametime in Scotland limited due to the presence of Djeidi Gassama, who will be the main choice at left wing after scoring two goals in Champions League qualifying versus Panathinaikos.
Russell Martin’s side already have a range of competition in the final third, with Oscar Coates and their own academy graduate, Findlay Curtis, in competition for a place in the starting lineup.
Therefore, it is bizarre that the Lilywhites have allowed Moore to join the Glaswegians when they should have waited and possibly loaned him to a Championship side where he would’ve been guaranteed more gametime.
