Postecoglou sack: Tottenham ‘shining light’ is last hope for Ange
Tottenham have had it rough throughout the 2024/25 season with Ange Postecoglou’s men falling short in a lot of their games this season.
So, it comes as no surprise that fans have been calling for the head of the Australian in order to try and get a new manager in to try out some different tactics and get the best out of what they have available.
Of course, not all the blame can be placed upon the head of the Australian as the sheer amount of injuries they’ve suffered is simply astonishing.
However, it feels like the former Celtic boss could change up his play style somewhat to see if something else could work.
As with all teams going through a struggle, there’s the odd one or two players who have lived up to expectations and at Tottenham Dejan Kulusevski is one of them with former Spurs man Michael Brown dubbing him a “shining light”.
“All around, the support just in front of them [Tottenham defence], Kulusevski has been a shining light, he’s been carrying the system and it suits him,” he said on the BBC Football News Show (25 January).
“They’ve got a lot of work to do, pressure is mounting they’ve got that second leg of the EFL cup at Liverpool, that’s going to be massive for Ange Postecoglou.”

It’s no secret that Spurs have massively underperformed this season with the North London club currently sitting 15th in the Premier League.
A plethora of things have gone wrong for Tottenham this season but one of the main reasons behind their lack of progress is the sheer amount of injuries they’ve suffered.
At the moment, it’s unclear how much longer the Australian has at the helm but if he can’t find a way to turn things around in the league and also triumph against the Reds on 6 February, that could be the final straw for the former Celtic boss.

Kulusevski may have been in impressive form this term but if he’s one of only two or three players who’s pulling their weight, it’s not hard to understand why Spurs have been struggling across the board this term.
Only time will tell if Postecoglou can defy the odds and end the season as Spurs’ manager but if he wants that dream to become a reality, things need to change as soon as possible.
Kulusevski can be a player who is the last hope for Ange, he needs him firing on all cylinders in the next month.
