Postecoglou sack: Levy has ‘Carlo Ancelotti decision’ after Real Madrid bombshell

Daniel Levy faces a major decision on the future of Ange Postecoglou in the next few days.

The Australian has led Spurs to a dismal domestic campaign and their only chance of success is winning the Europa League.

The pressure continues to mount on the former Celtic man and even ending a 17-year trophy drought may not be enough to keep his job, especially after a new bombshell update on the future of Carlo Ancelotti emerged.

Carlo Ancelotti set to leave Real Madrid

The legendary manager is set to become a free agent, which could leave Postecoglou sweating over his future.

A report from Sky Sports (17 April) claimed that the five-time Champions League winner will leave the Spanish giants after the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on 26 April.

In an ironic turn of events, the fact that Madrid were eliminated from the Champions League by Arsenal could indirectly impact the future of the Lilywhites manager.

Tottenham have to go all out for Ancelotti

While the result over the two legs against the Gunners was disappointing for a club with the standards of the 15-time European Cup winners, Ancelotti is not finished at the top level of the game.

He would be a significant upgrade on Postecoglou but the North London outfit would have to be quick if they want to appoint him as he is attracting significant interest from the Brazilian national team, who have been without a manager since March.

Ancelotti and Postecoglou’s records in the league in England.

He is a far more proven contender at the elite level than the likes of Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva and Thomas Frank, who have all been touted as potential replacements for the Australian if his miserable reign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is finally put to an end.

The 65-year-old is a proven winner and he would drastically improve the current Spurs squad and bring a greater pull in the transfer market and he has Premier League experience from his stints at Chelsea and Everton.

If the Italian is available, surely Levy has no choice but to sack the beleaguered incumbent and hire a manager with one of the best records in the game before it is too late.
