Postecoglou sack decision nailed on as Levy advertises new Tottenham position
Ange Postecoglou has been under immense pressure at Tottenham in recent months.
Despite a big 1-0 win over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday (8 January), Postecoglou remains the favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked.
In fairness, this is hardly a surprise, as Spurs are winless in their last four Premier League matches. However, Postecoglou hasn’t been helped by an extraordinary injury situation which shows no sign of letting up anytime soon.
Things have gotten so bad in North London this season that Spurs decided to undergo a second review of their medical department in less than a year [via The Standard, 12 December], with behind-the-scenes dismissals mooted as a result, while Postecoglou insisted the club were looking into why so many players had suffered injury setbacks [via The Independent, 27 December].
And it looks as though the club are putting their faith in Postecoglou rather than sacking the 59-year-old amid this ongoing injury crisis.
Daniel Levy stands by Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham
As per The Spurs News on Instagram (8 January), Tottenham are looking for a brand new ‘First Team Performance Rehabilitation Coach’, a ‘First Team Rehabilitation Physiotherapist’ and a new ‘Head of Men’s Medical’.
Therefore, this – alongside the investigation – is a clear example that rather than blaming their manager, Daniel Levy and the club are placing their faith in Postecoglou by looking to make new hires.
As a result, the Australian will no doubt be delighted, as it appears as though he maintains the backing of the board. However, this is football, and things can change very quickly.

Therefore, Postecoglou will be hoping for a convincing result in the third round of the FA Cup against Tamworth at the Lamb Ground on Sunday (12 January), where he is expected to make seven changes, as injuries or not, this is a game Spurs should be winning with absolute ease, and if they don’t, Postecoglou could suddenly find himself in trouble.
In other Tottenham news, Yves Bissouma could be finished at the club after a £26million transfer update.
