Postecoglou sack: Ange now ‘has just days’ to save his job at Tottenham

Tottenham are having a difficult season as they currently sit 15th in the Premier League table, just eight points above the relegation zone.

Ange Postecoglou has had trouble with injuries in his side that has left the Lilywhites without a ridiculous amount of key players in the squad.

Nevertheless, there is plenty of speculation surrounding the boss’ future as many feel as though the Australian’s style of play has been a contribution to why his side are struggling to get results.

There is no denying that the boss is stubborn and not keen to change his ways in order to suit the players he has available.

After a 2-1 defeat against Leicester City on Sunday (26 January), a side that were in the relegation zone coming into the game, there is no hiding away from the fact that some change is needed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, the winter transfer window has just days remaining and given the North London outfit have added just one player so far, there are worries that not enough is being done at Spurs.

When asked if there was any progress on signings, Postecoglou was honest as he said to Sky Sports (29 January): “Right now, there’s nothing imminent but that doesn’t mean there aren’t opportunities being explored.

“Traditionally, the last few days of any window tend to be pretty frenetic. I expect us to be involved in that.

“Does that mean anything will get concluded? I can’t commit to that.

“I’m a bit of a distance from it but the information and dialogue I have is that we’re exploring all opportunities to bring in some help for the players.”

Ange Postecoglou needs new signings to save Tottenham future

The quotes from the Spurs boss will surely worry a few supporters in North London with no signs of improvement under their manager with the players he currently has available to him.

Although it may have been an easier way to deal with injury issues, Postecoglou has been fairly stern on the fact that he is not willing to change his style of play and with that in mind, bringing in players who can support this is necessary.

February will be a big month for the Lilywhites, not least because of their second-leg semi-final against Liverpool in the EFL Cup, which could be a crucial result for the manager’s job at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and therefore an appropriate squad has to be in place to manage this.

Spurs supporters will no doubt be looking nervously over the coming days in the hope of some last-minute movements around North London.

It feels like it is necessary for Postecoglou, who may now have just days to save his job in North London.
