‘Postecoglou asking for trouble at Tottenham’ with snide reaction to Frankfurt win

Ange Postecoglou continues to dig himself a deeper hole at Tottenham despite a win against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.

The Lilywhites travelled to face the Bundesliga side in the Europa League on 17 April and booked their place in the semi-final with a 1-0 win.

Dominic Solanke netted a first-half penalty to seal Spurs’ progression to the final four of the competition to face Bodo/Glimt in May.

Regardless of this success, Postecoglou has once again put unnecessary pressure on himself with his reaction to the result at full time.

Postecoglou not helping himself with reaction to Frankfurt win

It is fair to say that the Australian has continued to make life difficult for himself throughout the campaign in North London.

Spurs currently sit 15th in the Premier League with six games remaining, but could still be on course to qualify for the Champions League.

This comes months after the former Celtic boss suggested that he “always wins a trophy in his second season” and that prophecy could soon come true.

With that being said, Postecoglou has continued to act in a way which has made himself unlikable to both supporters in N17 and beyond.

This took another step after the win against Frankfurt, after the 59-year-old once again sent a message to fans after the win in Germany.

As reported by Alasdair Gold (17 April, the head coach said: “So, unfortunately for a lot of you, you’re going to have to put up with me for a little bit longer, so let’s see how that goes.”

Postecoglou on course for the sack at Tottenham

As a manager, you have to be appreciated by fans and play into what they want to hear to make sure that they are behind you well and truly.

Postecoglou doesn’t seem to understand that and is keen to put a wedge between himself and supporters at such a crucial stage of the campaign.

The win against Frankfurt may have been exactly what was needed in North London, but that doesn’t excuse further snide and sarcastic behaviour from the head coach.

This could ultimately result in Daniel Levy pulling the sack trigger if his comments result in further hostility from the N17 faithful.
