Porro ‘to hand in Tottenham transfer request’ after recent comments
Tottenham are as unsettled as ever despite lifting their first European trophy in 41 years.
For any normal club, this summer would be one full of optimism and excitement following such a triumph, but for Tottenham, it just spells another chapter of turbulence.
There have been major shifts at board level, with Donna-Maria Cullen and Scott Munn both leaving the Lilywhites, while Vinai Venkatesham has started his new role as Tottenham Chief Executive Officer.
The most impactful change has been the departure of Ange Postecoglou.
Daniel Levy, so often at the helm of controversies at Tottenham, is now tasked with finding a suitable replacement for the Australian, but could be hampered by more issues arising from the club.

Pedro Porro’s message to Postecoglou signals potential Spurs exit
Despite some woeful performances in the Premier League, the Tottenham players’ admiration and respect for Postecoglou never wavered.
Their good relations reached a climax when the Australian guided them to Europa League glory, only for the squad to find out 16 days later that he had been sacked.
This decision has not gone down well with the players, least of all Pedro Porro, who was the first to post a heartfelt message on Instagram (6 June) profusely thanking Postecoglou.
Player | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Pape Matar Sarr | 90 | 9 | 6 |
Dejan Kulusevski | 89 | 18 | 14 |
Pedro Porro | 88 | 8 | 17 |
Brennan Johnson | 85 | 23 | 18 |
Son Heung-Min | 82 | 28 | 24 |
They had forged a particularly strong bond as the right-back made 88 appearances in their time together, and his dismissal could spell the end of the Spaniard’s time at Spurs.
A return to Manchester City has been mooted, and the potential departures of exit-linked duo Cristian Romero and Rodrigo Bentancur, two close allies of Porro, could accelerate an exit.
Porro’s message indicates his frustration with Spurs, and Levy will no doubt be worried that the 25-year-old may hand in a transfer request after becoming disillusioned with the situation in North London.
Postecoglou loyalty will affect the next manager
Within hours of Postecoglou’s fate being made public, almost every senior player at Tottenham took to social media to express their sadness at the news.
It will make the job of any incumbent manager, currently set to be Thomas Frank, much more difficult, as he will have to motivate a disappointed squad.
He may even have to contend with unforeseen departures, such as Porro, before settling into the challenging job.
