Mikey Moore to get ultimate Tottenham shot as crushing Maddison update emerges

Tottenham have faced a difficult campaign marred by injuries that have derailed their season.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side have lost a record-equalling 19 league fixtures, leaving them in 16th place with three games left to play.

A Europa League second-leg tie against Bodo/Glimt at the Aspmyra Stadion on Thursday (7 May) beckons for the Lilywhites, however, injuries have reared their ugly head at a crucial time once more.

With vice-captain James Maddison joining Spurs skipper Son Heung-min on the treatment table, Postecoglou will have to rely on youth to get him through this season-defining tie.

James Maddison out for up to three months

Tottenham have struggled for consistency this season, with their heavily rotated team falling flat in the 1-1 draw at West Ham on Sunday (4 May), proving that their results rely heavily on the first eleven.

Postecoglou came out last week stating that Maddison would be unavailable for the return fixture at Bodo, claiming that it did “not look great” but that he would still undergo further assessment.

His biggest fears were confirmed earlier today, with journalist Paul O Keefe posting on X: ‘James Maddison will miss the rest of the season and could face up to 3 months on the sidelines.’

It will come as a crushing blow to the Australian, but it could offer an opportunity to Mikey Moore to rekindle his Spurs career.

Moore must recapture early-season form

Moore’s sudden emergence took Spurs fans by storm, yet limited opportunities in recent months prove Postecoglou has lost some belief in the teenager.

The England Under-19 international started the season full of promise, featuring in five of the group stage fixtures in Europe, but has since seen a drop-off in game time, especially since the January arrival of Mathys Tel.

Known for his fearless nature; his dribbling abilities and direct running wreaked havoc on opposition defences, with a relentless second-half display against Alkmaar in particular standing out in memory.

The club strongly believes Moore will be integral to their future, so it’s up to him to rediscover his gusto and cement his place in the side.
