‘Levy to pull off transfer masterstroke’ after Davies to Wrexham update

Daniel Levy has been under intense scrutiny as he looks to steady the ship at Tottenham.

Levy is overseeing a complete overhaul at Tottenham, which has seen numerous senior figures depart in the last two weeks.

The uncertainty has left the remaining staff, players, and fans in the dark over the direction the Lilywhites are heading in, piling extra pressure on Levy ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 63-year-old’s most pressing task will be to appoint a new manager, with Thomas Frank currently the leading candidate to head the playing squad.

Levy will have to pay a significant fee to prise the Dane away from Brentford. However, the Spurs chairman could now secure a well-measured financial boost after a recent Ben Davies transfer update.

Wrexham will need to pay ‘a modest transfer fee’ for Davies

Tottenham have exercised their option to extend Davies’ contract until 2026.

The 32-year-old was Mauricio Pochettino’s first signing during his time at Spurs and is now the North London club’s longest-serving member of the playing squad.

However, Davies only made 28 appearances across all competitions this campaign as he has gradually fallen down the pecking order in recent seasons.

As a result, he has been linked with a Tottenham exit, and as reported by the Daily Mail (8 June), remains a target for Wrexham, despite his contract extension.

Tottenham’s hierarchy were likely aware of Wrexham’s interest before they exercised their option to extend Davies’ stay, and the Lilywhites will now be able to command “a modest transfer fee” for the Wales international.

Levy will be privy to Red Dragon’s well-documented financial might and could be in line to pull off a masterstroke in extracting maximum value from the sale of his player.

Spurs squad almost completely revamped

Davies’ departure from Spurs would leave Son Heung-Min as the last remaining player to have been at the club before Jose Mourinho’s appointment.

If Davies and Son are to leave, Spurs’ longest-serving player would become third-choice goalkeeper Brandon Austin.

It would mean that all of Tottenham’s senior players would have been signed in the last four years, completing the revamp that Levy had set out to achieve following the end of the Pochettino era.
