Levy ‘to make huge mistake at Tottenham’ as Paratici update emerges

Daniel Levy has taken positive steps in repairing his status among Tottenham fans.

The Spurs chairman endured multiple protests aimed at his decision-making last season as Tottenham appeared to be regressing once again with no clear sense of direction.

This summer, the 63-year-old has looked to address those issues, and not only brought in Thomas Frank, but has added various members of staff across the board who align with the manager.

The appointment of Vinai Venkatesham already seems to be paying dividends and has helped Spurs target top players who are expected to instantly lift the team.

However, much of Levy’s good work could quickly be undone following recent developments.

Levy is looking to rehire Fabio Paratici

Part of the reason Venkatesham was hired was that Levy wanted an ally he trusted to help him following the departure of Fabio Paratici.

The former managing director of Tottenham was forced to leave his post in April 2023 after being handed a 30-month international ban for reasons related to his days at Juventus.

The 53-year-old was still spotted at games during this time and has worked as a consultant at Spurs, with transfer links to players like Giovanni Leoni seemingly connected to Paratici.

The Italian’s ban is over, and as revealed by Sky Sports (20 July), Levy is looking to rehire his former colleague at Spurs.

This may come as welcome news for some Tottenham fans, who generally hold Paratici in high regard for his influence in securing several top signings in North London during his tenure.

However, Levy would be making a huge mistake if he were to bring the former Juventus man back to Tottenham, as it could upset the new structure that has shown positive signs.

Frank has been very complimentary about both Venkatesham and Johan Lange, whom he has known for a long time, and has mentioned their unity and collective vision on more than one occasion.

Paratici’s arrival could upset that, as his more traditional methods of operating do not align with the more modern, data-driven approach that has been adopted at Spurs.

Frank must be given time to prove himself

Tottenham’s proactive approach in the summer transfer window, combined with their UEFA Europa League win last season, will put considerable pressure on Frank’s shoulders.

The former Brentford manager will be expected to hit the ground running, and questions will instantly be aimed at both him and Levy should the 51-year-old start the season poorly.

Frank lost eight of his first ten games in charge of the Bees, but as he later proved, he turned it around and hugely exceeded expectations, and must be afforded the same opportunity in N17.
